The Martin Kolarides group
This is the ensemble that I use as a vehicle for many of my jazz compositions. Recently I have found new interest in working as a Trio with acoustic bass and drums. Much of the material that I write for this group involves my love of African music, particularly the guitar driven 'Soukous' from the democratic republic of Congo and derivatives of 'Highlife'. I am currently in the early stages of promoting this new group around the Jazz clubs and venues of London.
The Puppini Sisters
Led by Marcella Puppini, with Kate Mullins and Stephanie O'brian, the Puppini Sisters is a group that has emerged from the burgeoning underground 'burlesque' scene in London at present, Originally based on the vocal style of the likes of the Andrews sisters but now developing a more dark and original sound encorperating Tango and Jazz influences this 3part vocal harmony group is performing accross the country. The Puppini Sisters signed to Universal records in september '05 and released their Second album in the UK 'The rise and fall of Ruby Woo' . in July '07 meanwhile the groups debut album 'Betcha bottom dollar' went gold in October '07. This group also features the talents of Henrik Jensen on Acoustic bass and Henry Tyler on Drums and percussion.
Hoodlums
Hoodlums are a 5 piece Indie Rock band Started in London in early 2007 by Nick Pini and Lou Vainglorius. Hoodlums Debut single 'The Beat Bop' was released on 'NUDE' records in May this year to fantastic critical acclaim. check out The Myspace site for samples. The SubRosa Ensemble
Stemming from a mutual appreciation of European, African, South American and other world music forms, this new project coordinated by Violinist Kit Massey features myself on acoustic guitar, bassist Matt Ridley and percussionist Chris Marshall..We perfom mainly original music penned by members of the group aswell as compositions by the likes of Vince Mendoza, Jean-Luc Ponty and Chick Corea.
Gambit
Gambit is a 7piece contempory Jazz/groove ensemble run by Saxophonist Jon Shenoy and featuring Arthur Lee-Fender Rhodes, Rory Simmons-Trumpet, Graham Fox-Drums, Chris Marshall-percussion and Riann Vosloo -Bass.
The Piranha Project
Led by vocalist Emine Pirhasan and Trumpet player Rory Simmons this seven piece jazz funk/soul group has been playing the dance clubs of London since 2003.
Paper Cuts
Paper Cuts is an experimental electronic music project that I co-run with drummer and composer Jesse Richards. The focus is on creating down tempo sample based music that has musicality and melody as well as rhythm. Our sound is put together using electronically manipulated beats and a selection of live instrumentation.
